Director, Compensation Programs

This position has an important role within the HR Compensation team to provide leadership in managing various compensation programs and facilitating program efficiency and effectiveness.

The HR Compensation team is responsible for ensuring internal equity, market competitiveness and aligning pay with performance throughout the organization. This position manages and leads the execution of compensation programs in collaboration with other leaders within the team, including Year-end Base Pay and Bonus, compensation analytics, survey management, among others. Develops, implements and maintains system and program documents, user guides and enabling tools, and other related materials.

This job is done well when leaders are confident about our internal equity, market competitiveness, and pay differentiation based on performance and business results. This role supports various programs and initiatives and enables new concepts, tools and processes that respond to HR and business needs. This role requires experience in researching information/practices, summation of that data and convincing of key stakeholders to create action for change. This role will engage with stakeholders across the company and influence the overall program design.

This job oversees, leads and manages HR / compensation programs and initiatives, and provides expertise on cross-functional work. This role leads the development and roll-out of internal and client-facing compensation solutions.

What you will do

  • Lead the team in managing the execution and implementation of compensation programs.
  • Collaborate with other members of the compensation and HR teams to seamlessly deliver programs to leaders and employees.
  • Collaborate with various partners to improve leader / employee experience through training and communication and support documents.
  • Identifies and recommends solutions to address improvement opportunities on existing processes to further optimize operational effectiveness within Human Resources.
  • Responsible for the early identification and resolution of major and minor issues including non-routine situations that could impact programs, systems, and/or processes.
  • Monitor market trends and internal feedback in relation to compensation programs and proactively develop recommendations and/or action plans in response to new information
  • Accountable for managing significant compensation initiatives, in line with HR and business strategies
  • Ensures that solutions and implementation plans address stakeholder needs and internal / external requirements including financial, change management, risk and compliance requirements
  • Oversees the research and analysis, development of recommendations and design of program solutions as part of initiatives
  • Oversees the socialization and enablement of compensation initiatives, where needed
  • Oversees the design and implementation of systems and tools, and related support documents to increase the effectiveness of compensation programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring that user experience in considered during the implementation / update of new programs
  • Collaborate with various partners to improve user experience through training and communication and support documents
  • Identifies and recommends solutions to address opportunities to improve existing processes to further streamline and optimize operational effectiveness within Human Resources. Lead and coach a compensation team – develop goals, provide regular feedback and guidance, create and execute on career development plans, and conduct performance evaluations in accordance with Company approach
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the compensation team

What you will bring

  • Minimum of 7-10 years Human Resources management experience required, including overseeing Compensation design and administration.
  • Demonstrated experience in the analysis and development of innovative compensation strategies.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills required with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with peers.
  • Business partner with ability to build credibility and relationships with internal customers required.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with demonstrated ability to develop and effectively present succinct, compelling reviews of business performance infused with insight and business implications/actions to be considered.
  • Ability to build strong networks within rewards community to ensure up-to-date knowledge of emerging market trends, legal/regulatory requirements, and make recommendation for changes where appropriate.
  • Demonstrated success in building a culture among team that focuses on continuous improvement and process efficiency.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or equivalent field is preferred.
