JOB PURPOSE:
As member of the Rewards COE team, lead the design, analysis, implementation, and maintenance of the Company’s compensation programs including base salary, incentive compensation, and program governance; ensuring competitive compensation programs that support the acquisition and retention of top talent.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain global compensation programs, strategies, and policies including job evaluation, salary administration, and incentive compensation
- Develop the Company’s compensation philosophy, including creating an effective communications strategy for compensation programs, and development of compensation guidelines and training to build broader stakeholder capability
- Lead the review of Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and CEO compensation matters and trends; recommend compensation adjustments including annual base salary, short and long-term target levels, and competitive incentive plan design changes
- Oversee Executive compensation programs including preparation of materials for Human Resources Committee and Management Resources Committee of the Board
- Partner with and communicate to the SLT on specific compensation matters
- Provide expert level compensation advice and subject matter expertise to HR Business Partners and business leaders through research, analysis, & consultations
- Oversee the annual compensation planning cycles including annual salary increase guidelines, performance distributions, and appropriate allocation of incentive plan spend
- Oversee the Compensation and Variable Pay modules in SuccessFactors
- Conduct benchmarking to assess and align internal compensation programs with comparable external pay practices. Remain up to date on emerging trends and changing legislative requirements
- Ensure data integrity as well as compensation plan compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures, and with all applicable laws
- Act as Rewards Subject Matter Expert (SME) by responding to queries and issues raised through the Employee Experience Centre as point of escalation.
- Diagnose and resolve system and process issues where necessary, recommend procedural modifications to aid in employee self-service and HR Shared Services
- Lead pay equity compliance, fair wage reviews, and other legislated or Board required analyses
- Participate as a project team member on various compensation and rewards related projects
KEY QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES:
- 10+ years in a compensation role with strong knowledge of compensation practices and principles to positively impact employee performance and business results
- Strong knowledge of job evaluation methods; and high-level knowledge of salary markets in major regions where McCain operates (Canada, US, LatinAmerica, Continental Europe, Great Britain, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, China, India)
- Knowledge of contemporary HR practices
- Strong project management and planning skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills specifically in Excel
- Knowledge of HR systems is beneficial, particularly SuccessFactors
- Proven understanding of local CPG market; focused to develop understanding of McCain, our customers and consumers
- Proven resiliency and collaboration in the face of challenging circumstances
- Displays accountability with a focus on business and customer results
- Experienced in analyzing data/information to communicate recommendations which positively influence business results
- Ability to build strong relationships
- Establish trust and gain consensus
