Compensation Partner

    TMX Group’s Human Resources department is a high-performing team responsible for providing TMX Group and its subsidiaries with the full suite of Human Resources services they need to support and develop their people strategies that are aligned with plans to grow and evolve the business. This role will be part of the Total Rewards and HR Operations team.

    Reporting to the Senior Manager Compensation, the Compensation Partner provides expert analytical and reporting support related to the design, costing, audit and administration of our total rewards programs, and is a functional Workday lead for our compensation administration and tools.

    Key Accountabilities:

    Compensation Partner: (30%)

    • Work with leaders across the business to support the design of compensation programs and find opportunities that align with TMX’s business strategy
    • Provide ongoing education and support to HR Business Partners and Talent Advisors with respect to compensation plans, policies and processes
    • Conduct job evaluations in accordance with our job evaluation tool to ensure continued internal alignment and pay equity compliance
    • Conduct annual market analyses and provide education to the business on how to interpret and incorporate market data into compensation decision making
    • Provides compensation advice and consultation to internal clients across all TMX business areas

    Program Operations: (40%)

    • Coordinates participation in annual compensation market surveys, compiling data and developing analyses to assess and monitor potential driven issues. Prepares preliminary observations and recommendations for review with stakeholders
    • Leads the annual year end compensation process including coordination of recommendations and reporting requirements. Develops and maintains automated tools to continually improve and streamline the process, with a focus on delivering an outstanding client experience
    • Maintain TMX’s job evaluation process and provide recommendations for refinements, as needed
    • Supports the design and administration of sales compensation programs, including the validation of revenue-based measures, financials and cost scenarios
    • Works with key stakeholders in finance with respect to salary planning, bonus accruals and payouts and other forecasting activities
    • Works closely with finance and our third party administrator(s) to lead the administration and reporting of our equity compensation programs by processing new equity grants, employee changes and providing financial and regulatory reporting on a monthly basis
    • Supports the development of materials for TMX’s Human Resources Committee and Board of Directors, as the need arises
    • Participates as the need arises in special projects as they relate to HR systems and total rewards

    Reporting & Analysis: (30%)

    • Conducts ad hoc reporting for the business with respect to compensation design and facilitates spend reporting to the business
    • Produces and leverages key analytics to identify emerging trends and areas for opportunity with respect to compensation program design
    • Serves as key functional lead for the delivery of compensation programs through our HRIS, Workday, including data audits, process configuration and system maintenance. Participates in the ongoing development of Workday functionality and tools and process, with a focus on delivering a seamless employee experience.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years analytical experience in a compensation or finance function.
    • Undergraduate degree, preferably in commerce, finance or related field.
    • Experienced MS Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint with sophisticated function proficiency including pivots, v-look ups and macro development / or Google equivalent.
    • Excellent quantitative and data analysis skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight timelines without compromising the integrity of information
    • Intermediate Workday/HRIS system experience preferred
    • Solid understanding of compensation principles, programs and processes; experience with sales plans and equity programs/vendors
    • Numerate mindset with strong analytical and critical thinking ability in particular as it relates to data, with a very high level of attention to accuracy and details
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team with excellent interpersonal skills; interacting with clients, peers, and other groups within TMX with a high level of integrity.
    • Strong integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive information.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Outstanding dedication to customer service with strong sense of urgency
    • Highly motivated, self-starter, requiring little direction
