As Metro Vancouver’s transportation authority, TransLink delivers a wide range of services and programs. These include bus, SeaBus, SkyTrain, Canada Line, West Coast Express, and HandyDART services. They also fund a dedicated Transit Police force (TSML), operate and maintain five of the region’s bridges and, in conjunction with local governments, share responsibility for the Major Road Network, as well as walking and cycling infrastructure. They are responsible stewards of the environmental impacts of their operations - besides managing transportation demand-management strategies and programs - they support the region’s growth strategy, provincial and regional environmental objectives, and regional economic development.

The Director of Total Rewards and Payroll Services will lead the design of total rewards strategies which foster a strong sense of value among our employees and which continue to support our growth. This critical role leads the development of strategy relating all aspects of total rewards, including compensation, benefits, performance management and recognition for exempt and executive employees across the enterprise. The Director oversees benefit services for all employees in concert with the joint Transit Employees’ Health and Benefit Trust and also oversees payroll services for TransLink, CMBC, and TSML. Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, the Director, Total Rewards and Payroll Services is a member of the senior HR leadership team and interacts frequently with senior executives across the enterprise and members of the TransLink Board. The Director also shares accountability for supporting and promoting the effective delivery of HR services to our partners. Leading a capable team of over 50 employees, this is a significant leadership opportunity for a creative senior leader to manage the Total Rewards function for over 8,000 exempt and unionized staff with one of BC’s Top Employers.
The ideal candidate is a mature total rewards leader who brings over 10 years of progressive and management experience in a large, complex unionized environment. Previous experience working in the public sector is highly preferred. The candidate will bring expert knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices and techniques pertaining to all disciplines of the human resources field, with a particular emphasis on
compensation, organization design, job design/evaluation, exempt performance appraisal systems and payroll. A strong and highly emotionally intelligent people leader, the ideal candidate will contribute meaningful to enterprise-wide leadership on designated HR
strategies and programs.
While this role is based in New Westminster, British Columbia, this role has been designated as “hybrid” enabling a balance of work from home and from the New Westminster office.
