Manager, Compensation, Contract

What is the opportunity?

This position calls on your analytical and project management skills to support the design, development and execution of compensation solutions for RBC Insurance, the largest bank-owned insurance company in Canada.

You add value by applying technical expertise and advice to support the building of compensation models, forecasting compensation costs for financial accruals, delivery of market surveys and preparing compensation reports, presentations and analysis for senior management.

In this role you will report to the Director, Compensation and join a highly motivated team of HR and compensation professionals who are committed to creating exceptional employee experiences that enable RBC to attract, engage and retain talent.

Please note this is an 18-month contract opportunity.

What will you do?

  • Perform complex research, analysis and delivery of findings that will be used as the baseline for scenario planning and compensation redesign
  • Provide modeling and advanced analytics support on incentive design initiatives and enhancements to compensation programs to implement data-driven decisions and insights
  • Act as a source of expertise for HR Business Partners and people managers in respect of year-end Compensation tools and processes
  • Support compensation communications, ensuring HR Business Partners, people managers and employees receive timely and easy to understand information on their compensation programs
  • Produce scheduled and ad hoc compensation reports, working with HR and business partners to consolidate and analyze relevant data
  • Manage third party market research, including the cost effective collection, modeling and analysis of compensation data, providing meaningful insights and action plans
  • Work collaboratively with the Role Strategy & Compensation Team to monitor and assess the effectiveness of Sales & Distribution role-based incentive plans
  • Drive efficiency and effectiveness through continuous process improvement, automation and streamlining

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years’ of relevant work experience, preferably in Human Resources, Finance, Economics, Business or a related field
  • Very strong Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint/Word skills and ability to explore new technologies to enhance the delivery of compensation information
  • Keen sense of numbers and strong analytical skills with the ability to multitask and handle high-press executive level requests on a regular basis
  • Experience in financial modelling, including understanding of statistics, risk or other quantitative metrics
  • Experience managing projects and executing processes and ensuring compliance with policy, legal and administrative requirements
  • Self-starter with the ability to resolve complex issues and problems, able to work with little supervision
  • Critical thinking, timely, effective and service orientation
  • Solid writing, communication, collaboration and presentation skills

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in HR/compensation management, reporting and analysis
  • Experience using a Web-based compensation tool, e.g. Pay Factors
  • Experience using a visual analytics platform, e.g. Tableau
  • Experience providing market analytics and insights
  • Experience in a large, complex corporate environment
  • Experience with consulting, including interacting with executives
