Here’s what you will do as part of the team:

  • Monitor and respond to general inquiries within the various team inboxes and escalate complex inquiries to the Compensation & Benefits Specialists;
  • Support the maintenance of compensation information, data, and tools for accuracy and effectiveness;
  • Assist in the preparation, review and delivery of bonus and salary increase letters, validation of employee changes, reconciliation of bonus amounts and salary increase payroll upload files;
  • Coordinate and administer anniversary/milestone, peer and retiree recognition processes as part of the corporate rewards and recognition program;
  • Create enrollment forms, communications and payroll upload file as part of the annual benefits re-enrollment process for non-bargaining unit staff;
  • Coordinate and administer MPAC’s annual scholarship program by creating workplans, communication documents, reviewing applications and coordinating scholarship committee meetings;
  • Assist in the coordination, research and participation of benefits and compensation surveys;
  • Aid in researching and compiling industry benchmark trends related to compensation and benefits;
  • Identify trends through the review of program metrics and ad hoc reports and make recommendations to improve program effectiveness;
  • Maintain, update and provide recommendations on internal program discounts and MPAC Perks;
  • Aid in the maintenance of job evaluation tools and job documentation;
  • Ensure timely updates are provided in relation to benefits premium changes and salary ranges, and provide support to the maintenance of position and structural information in HRIS;
  • Monitor compliance with service level agreements, identify and resolve issues and escalate unresolved matters to the manager as appropriate;
  • Provide support as a intranet web editor relating to the content of various compensation & benefits and employee program pages;
  • Support the drafting, coordination and promotion of employee communication materials, guidelines, policies and relevant intranet documents to ensure they are current; and
  • Review and edit presentations, letters, memos and reports as required.

Here’s what you will need to succeed:

  • Completion of a post-secondary program in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or related field;
  • At least 2 years of experience in Compensation, Benefits, or Total Rewards;
  • Working knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Pay Equity Act (Ontario) and relevant sections of the Collective Agreement;
  • Knowledgeable of theories, principles and practices of total rewards, compensation and benefits;
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint to analyze, manipulate and present accurate information;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive payroll and benefits information;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to pivot due to changing business needs and priorities; and
  • Proactive critical thinking skills to anticipate relevant issues or concerns.

Nice to have:

  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, or in the process of obtaining; and
  • Work experience within a unionized organization.
